In thriller and horror, how do we elicit mood, suspense, and action?
How do we create credible characters going through extreme circumstances?
How do we keep our narration intimate and connected in a car chase or a kidnapping, for instance?
How do we empathize with and humanize villains?
How can we heighten the stakes of the story and our characters?
We will explore techniques to create suspense, drive , surprise, and excitement with a particular focus on literary devices used in thrillers. Scenes will be provided and, as always, everyone will have an opportunity to read with direction.
